Where to Stay
Lake George is a popular tourist town so there are plenty of hotels and motels available if you choose to go that route. Some hotels are located directly on Lake George. While you will pay more at places like this, if you love the convenience of being right on the water there are plenty to choose from. Land on Lake George is extremely pricey so these places will also be charging accordingly. You might look at one of the smaller local lakes, such as Glen Lake or Lake Hadlock, to see if they have homes available as they are also conveniently located. And don’t forget to look slightly outside of Lake George for accommodations. Queensbury and Glens Falls are relatively close. Since you’ll be driving you’ll have a car so you can easily drive to where you want to go.
What to Do
There is no shortage of activities in Lake George. Singles, couples, and families can find plenty to do to fill their days and nights. The Great Escape Amusement and Waterpark is located here. This park is part of the Six Flags family and has been a longstanding tradition in the area. Great rides for thrill seekers and young children alike, along with a great waterpark on hot days make this a fun place to go. There are numerous golf courses in the area if you love to hit the links. Be sure to call ahead and schedule tee times as the courses are quite busy in the summer. If mini-golf is more your style you can probably hit a new mini-golf course every day while in Lake George. Shopping is abundant on the Million Dollar Mile where there are outlets for everyone. From Adidas to Kate Spade to Yankee Candle, you can fill your car up with all sorts of bargains.
If you are looking to spend more time outdoors, consider hiking in the Adirondacks. There are many hiking spots that are within a short drive and can be completed within the day. Boating is popular too, of course! You can bring your own boat and launch it at several spots on Lake George or rent a boat from one of the many local businesses that do this in the summer. Tubing and water skiing are lots of fun and there are many great restaurants located on the lake with docks for easy access. If you love to fish, Lake George is home to Northern pike, bass, perch, trout and more.
