Fun Activities to do With Your Mom This Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and so too are those inevitable nightmares of forgetting to send a card on that special day to let Mom know how much you care. If you’re worried about choosing the right way to make her day, then have no fear; you’ve come to the right place! We have a ton of great ideas for fun activities to help you make this Mother’s Day special for both you and your mom.

Go to the movies– Frequent movie-goers know the joy in sitting back to watch a much-hyped flick in the middle of the day. Guilt-free afternoons at the movie theater can make for a great way to spend some downtime with friends or family. Bringing her to a new movie showing can be a nice quiet moment that the two of you share; plus, it gives you both a lot to talk about afterwards as well!

Spa day– Sometimes the best way to enjoy the day is to do, well, nothing. Taking time off your feet and getting a little pampered can be some much-needed R&R for both you and mom. Take the day to visit a spa or massage specialist that can help you detox, unplug, and relax. She will appreciate being able to relax without thinking about all of the other things that are usually on her mind!

Do some gardening– Planting some flowers and getting in touch with your inner nature enthusiast can be a fun and creative activity perfect for a nice spring day. Getting outdoors and spending some time in the sun can be a great mood booster, and you’ll get some nice home décor that will serve as a wonderful reminder of the time spent together.

Take a painting or craft class– Letting yourself wind down and be creative is a great bonding experience, and one that you won’t forget! You don’t have to be Picasso to enjoy getting a little crafty and taking the plunge with something outside of your comfort zone. Try taking a painting class for beginners or going out for a DIY craft night with some fun, guided instruction. You’ll share plenty of laughs and have something beautiful to take home at the end of the night. (If not, that’s okay too—you had fun and probably learned a thing or two!)

Visit a museum– We all know just how unpredictable spring weather can be, so if the day is a bit gloomy or rainy, try taking a trip to an art or history museum. Not only is it an extremely affordable option (most museums take donations as admission), but it can also be unexpectedly inspiring and fun. Museums are a nice, quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of life, and they give a great opportunity to wind down and appreciate the time spent together.

Outdoors– If a green thumb runs in your family, it might be a good idea to spend some time outdoors visiting a local (or not-so-local) waterfall, hike-friendly mountain, or relaxing lake. Even better, bring an old-fashioned picnic basket and enjoy a relaxing lunch out in nature!

Grab a drink– Who says moms can’t party? If your mom has a favorite drink or enjoys a good craft beer, try visiting a local brewery or winery for a tasting! Many times, you can even get a private (and free) tour of the facility. Going for a beer or wine wasting, you’re bound to learn (and drink) a lot. What’s not to like?

However you choose to spend Mother’s Day, just remember that quality time spent together is the most valuable gift of all. Let us know which of the above activities is your favorite way to spend Mother’s Day! Any more fun ideas? Let us know in the comments below.
